LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The West Texas Cyclones, a U8 softball team, has been working hard and the results can be seen on the diamond.

They've been invited to play in the USSSA World Series in Orlando July 16 to 23.

The Cyclones have a lofty national ranking and Coach Fernando Saiz is excited his girls get an opportunity to prove how good they are.

"We're ranked in the power rankings No. 1 in the nation. The teams in 2nd and 3rd are from Louisiana and Georgia. It's great. Lot of hard work. Lot of blood, sweat and tears. The girls come out when it's time to play and they're focused. It shows that they love this sport."

Kolbi McCord summed up the top ranking by saying "It's awesome. I'm really proud."

The team needs to raise funds to ensure the No. 1 team makes it to the USSSA World Series. You can check out their West Texas Cyclones Facebook page where they have a GoFundMe account and are selling items to raise funds.

Catcher Pseyton Saiz knows it's expensive. "Our flights are going to be a lot. Just going to Florida is going to be a lot of money."

Coach Saiz thanks the community for their support and the Cyclones plan to go out and play hard in Florida.

"We hope to go up there and represent Lubbock and come home with a Championship."
