Truck Driver Sentenced For Attempted Sexual Assault

A man who attempted to force himself upon a girl in a Lubbock grocery store parking lot is now headed to prison.

James Craig Bell Jr. was convicted in the July 2003 incident, which occurred in the United Supermarket parking lot at 82nd and Frankford.

According to police reports, Bell approached his underage victim as she sat in her mother's car, and attempted to force himself on her. She screamed, and Bell fled in his Mack truck. Police caught up with him less than an hour later, attempting to hose himself down outside a southwest Lubbock home.

Bell was sentenced to ten years in prison.
