BROWNFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

After 6 seasons at 3A Brownfield, including winning the State Championship in March, Dustin Faught is leaving to be the new boys basketball coach at 6A San Angelo Central.

"I'm super excited about the opportunity. As far as West Texas jobs go, this is a big name West Texas job. I'm committed to going in there and continuing the success and building on it."

Faught was at Brownfield 6 years, capping it off with the #1 Cubs (32-3) winning their first ever State Basketball Championship beating #11 East Chambers 80-54 March 12th in San Antonio.

"It was a very tough decision to leave Brownfield. It's a very special group of guys. The toughest part of the job is telling kids you won't be back. I told them they're gonna have a huge fan keeping up with them in San Angelo and to go defend their State Title."

Brownfield was extra special for Coach Faught as his dad Dickie Faught won a State Title in 1988 with the Brownfield girls. Sheryl Swoopes was on that team.

Faught is excited for the challenge moving from Class 3A, where he was the Coach of the year to now Class 6A.

"I'm excited. It's been a dream coaching at that level. I couldn't turn it down. I was so impressed with San Angelo's administration and staff and how they handled the interview process. They way they did things, you want to work there."

We wish Coach Faught the best as he moves to San Angelo Central.
