The 2016 Salutatorian of Borden County High School is Nathan Souder, son of Nathan Souder and Maggie Salinas, both of Snyder.
Souder is a member of the National Beta Club and is a Distinguished Achievement graduate. He also completed 30 hours of dual credit college classes through Western Texas College during his college career.
Souder served as president of the Gail FFA chapter, district FFA vice-president, and area FFA president. He is a state qualifier in the FFA Extemporaneous Speaking contest.
In UIL academic competition, Nathan was a two-time state qualifier in Lincoln-Douglas Debate and also qualified for state in Congressional Debate. He served as the Science team captain.
Souder participated in One-Act Play for four years and was named to the All-Star cast his junior and senior years.
Souder played football all four years and was a member of the Coyotes' Regional Quarterfinal Champion football team. He ran track for three years and was a state qualifier in the 1,600-meter relay.
Souder plans to attend the University of Texas at Austin as a Terry Scholar and major in mechanical engineering.
