Health Department Issues Rabies Alert

The health department is issuing a rabies alert after a sick bat was dropped off at the Lubbock Wildlife Rehabilitation Center.

The bat died Friday morning and has been sent to Austin for rabies testing. If you were exposed to the bat, it is vital that you get tested for rabies. Call Lubbock Animal Control at 775-2057 or DSHS Zoonosis at 767-0427.

You are also asked to report any ill or odd behaving animals to animal control immediately.
