ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A New Mexico congresswoman who's running for governor has obtained a restraining order against a former Capitol Hill intern who protested her recent speech at the Democratic pre-primary convention in Albuquerque. The Albuquerque Journal reports the Second Judicial District Court in Bernalillo County has granted Michelle Lujan Grisham's restraining order request against Riley Del Rey. Lujan Grisham claimed in court documents that she believed Del Rey intended to cause her serious harm.

FARMINGTON, N.M. (AP) - One of the units at a coal-fired power plant that serves customers in the southwestern United States has been taken offline as officials investigate a structural failure in one of its coal silos. Public Service Co. of New Mexico confirmed Tuesday that the failure over the weekend at the San Juan Generating Station resulted in a fire and some damage that was limited to the area around the silo. No injuries were reported.

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - The Las Cruces City Council has postponed consideration of a proposal that would have supported restrictions on the sale and possession of semi-automatic guns in New Mexico. The council on Monday voted to table the proposal indefinitely to give it more time to discuss suggestions from the public. The nonbinding measure requested that state lawmakers and the governor take action following the influx of gun threats at schools.

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Las Cruces woman has been sentenced to five years in federal prison for methamphetamine trafficking. Prosecutors say 35-year-old Joclyn Telles and a co-defendant were arrested in February 2017 on suspicion of conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. Telles was arrested on an outstanding arrest warrant following a traffic stop in June 2016 in Dona Ana County. Authorities reported finding about 2.6 ounces of meth in the defendants' vehicle.
