ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - Authorities in the U.S. state of New Mexico say a victim injured in a helicopter crash that killed five others, including a Zimbabwe opposition leader, called for help. State Police confirmed opposition leader Roy Bennett's death Thursday, a day after a helicopter carrying him and five others went down in a remote area. Martha Cobb, wife of one of the men who died, tells The Associated Press that her 39-year-old daughter was hospitalized with several broken bones.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico House of Representatives has voted unanimously to join a new nurse licensure compact that is shared with at least 25 other states. The House voted 68-0 on Thursday in favor of a bill that allows nurses who are licensed in New Mexico to work in participating states and vice versa.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico-based startup company for immersive art installations known as Meow Wolf has joined a new retail and entertainment venture slated for Las Vegas, Nevada. Meow Wolf announced Thursday that it has signed on as a tenant in an entertainment complex that will offer live music, festivals, corporate events and e-sports video game tournaments, adjacent to retail and dining outlets.

SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - New Mexico Senate Democrats made history this week by electing a second woman to the chamber's majority leadership team but the move is drawing criticism from some because that team is now all white. Some Hispanic lawmakers say one of the top leadership spots in the Senate should have gone to a Latina since the state has the highest percentage of Hispanic residents in the nation.
