Common Painkillers Offer Some Protection Against Cancer

This doesn't give you a reason to smoke, but if you're hooked and worried about oral cancer, there's evidence now that some common painkillers may offer protection against that kind of cancer in smokers.

According to studies released Monday at a meeting of the American Association for Cancer Research, daily doses of Aspirin or Ibuprofen significantly reduced the risk of oral cancer in smokers.

Researchers say they didn't get the same effect in those taking acetaminophens, like Tylenol, just Aspirin and Ibuprofen.
