After a 3-run double by Stephen Smith in the top of the 2nd inning, the Red Raiders opened up a 3-1 lead. But two errors in the top of the 3rd allowed Coastal Carolina to re-take the lead.

With 1-out and the bases loaded, Hunter Hargrove fielded a ground ball and threw home for the force out, but the throw was low and skipped past Tyler Floyd, allowing a run to score. The next batter hit a chopper to first that Eric Gutierrez misplayed and rolled into right field allowing two more Chanticleers to score and take a 4-3 lead.

Coastal Carolina scored three more in the 5th inning with a couple of two-out hits off Parker Mushinski to open up a 7-3 lead.

Texas Tech starter Erikson Lanning lasted only 1.2 innings allowing three runs, one earned, with three strikeouts and two walks. The Red Raiders used four different pitchers on the evening.

Texas Tech made things interesting with two runs in the 7th. A sac fly by Hargrove made it 7-4 and a 2-out single by Michael Davis cut the deficit to 7-5 for the Red Raiders.

But the clutch hits were few and far between for Texas Tech who stranded 12 runners on the evening and left several runners in scoring position throughout the game.

The Red Raiders end the season with a final record of 47-20.

Coastal Carolina moves on to play TCU, Friday night at 7 p.m.
