Sarah Crow

Our first Valedictorian in alphabetical order, with a final grade point average of 4.8923076  is Sarah Elizabeth Crow.   Sarah, will you please join me up front.  
Sarah is the daughter of Dr. Steven & Mrs. Sonya Crow.  Dr. and Mrs. Crow, will you please stand.   Will you join me as well.
Sarah began her academic career in LISD as a Murfee Mountain lion and continued on to be an Evans Eagle prior to beginning her journey as a Monterey Plainsman.  As Valedictorian, Sarah has demonstrated her academic capacity by excelling in a difficult course load each year and has been an important member of our student body.  She proudly represented Monterey as a member of the Varsity POM Squad, traveling as far as the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and performing during halftime at a Dallas Cowboy game! Additionally, Sarah served as the Senior Class Treasurer and was a member of our award winning Mock Trial team. 
Sarah’s wide variety of school activities included Academic Octathlon, Robotics, Future Problem Solvers, and Surrender- a student led Bible study. She was also chosen to represent Monterey through the New Century Leadership program, hosted by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.  Loved and respected by both peers and teachers, Sarah has been chosen as a Top Plainsman and received multiple honors including the MHS Excellence Award, UIL Scholar, LISD Scholar, Plainsman 4.0 Scholar, Future Problem Solvers State Qualifier, Teen of the Month, CTE Student Ambassador, and the Phi Beta Kappa Excellence Award. During her time at Monterey, Sarah was selected as the outstanding student in AP Economics, AP English Language Composition, AP US History, Pre-calculus, and Spanish. Sarah has been an active member of the National Honor Society, the POM Squad co-captain, and was even on the Homecoming Court! Outside of school, Sarah volunteers her time for a variety of philanthropic organizations and is an active member in her church. In her free time, she loves to bake!
Sarah will be in the Honors College at Texas Christian University in the fall, where her proposed field of study will be Speech Pathology. Scholarships offered to Sarah to date total more than $175,000, and will also be receiving the Texas Valedictorian Tuition Scholarship.
