Madison is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Daniel and Kim Wheeler. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, will you please join me as well.
Prior to becoming a Monterey Plainsman, Madison was a Waters Patriot, Honey Bear, and an Evans Eagle. During her time at Monterey she has served our school and community as a member of the National Honor Society. She has also been a member of our Academic Octathlon and Decathlon teams, a participant in UIL Literature Criticism, and has proudly represented Monterey on the Softball team 9th through 11th grade.
As a Plainsmen 4.0 scholar, Madison chose to take a challenging course load throughout her career at Monterey and has excelled academically. As a reflection of her high character and conduct at school, Madison was selected by her teachers as teen of the month, and as a top student in many of her classes.
She received the Monterey Excellence Award, was nominated for the YWCA Woman of Excellence award, and is a UIL scholar.
Madison loves to read but that was not always the case. She struggled with a reading disability early on which made reading very frustrating and difficult. Madison worked and overcame this challenge and is forever grateful and thankful to her teachers who worked diligently to help her.
Madison will attend Lubbock Christian University in the fall, where she will major in Exercise Science and minor in Missions with an emphasis in Pre-Physician’s Assistant in hopes of attending PA school after LCU.
Madison has received $116,000 in scholarship awards will also receive the South Plains College Salutatorian Scholarship.
Thank you for your many contributions to Monterey High School. Congratulations, Madison!
