Destruction crews are making way for construction on Lubbock's 50th Street. Crews began bull-dozing the former Montgomery Ward's building just West of 50th and University Tuesday.
Once destruction is complete, construction will begin on the new Home Depot building. You'll remember the announcement to build a second Home Depot location caused controversy when residents complained about the potential for trash and noise. After a public hearing, the city council approved the zoning change that paved the way for the company to build.
The goal is to open Home Depot by January 2006.
