LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

After a two-and-a-half month investigation, Sheryl Swoopes has been fired by Loyola University.

Swoopes has been the subject of scrutiny ever since ten players on the team accused her of mistreatment. Many Loyola players have left the program over Swoopes 3-year tenure.

Swoopes was 31-62 since she was hired back in 2013.

"Sheryl Swoopes is no longer serving as the women's basketball coach at Loyola University Chicago," Athletic Director Steve Watson said in a statement. "A search for her replacement will begin immediately. Loyola thanks Sheryl for her service to the women's basketball program."

Swoopes won a national title and several player of the year awards while at Texas Tech in 1993. She also became the first player signed by the WNBA when that league formed in 1996.
