The 14th Annual KCBD Live Community Coverage Tour 2016 will continue on Wednesday, July 20 in Post, TX at the Post City Park.
Each year we search the South Plains to tell positive stories and uncover interesting facts about the communities that make the South Plains great. To date, we have explored 26 different towns and shared their stories. This year will again be like no other. We will be visiting five different towns in five days during the week of July 18th – July 22th. Starting on Monday, July 18th we will visit Abernathy, July 19th Idalou, July 20th Post, July 21st Morton, and Lamesa on July 22nd.
KCBD will broadcast the 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. Newscasts Live. The community is invited to watch the news unfold and then join us for a free dinner provided by Lowes Supermarkets, Pepsi, Culligan Water, Atmos Energy, and Blue Bell. Donations will be accepted for that community’s cause of choice.
WIN A PRIZE!!
Remember to make a sign to bring that can be seen during the newscasts. The best sign will win a prize. Also, if you take any photos while you're there, with or without your awesome sign, use #KCBDandMe or #KCBD11 or #KCBD on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Your photo will be included in our Community Coverage slideshow.
After dinner, we invite everyone stick around for varying local entertainment like a country western swing band or even a talent show. There will also be fun for the kids, games, and plenty of free stuff. We will wrap up the evening with the broadcast of the 10 p.m. newscast.
KCBD’s newscasts will feature unique stories from each community. The public will also have the opportunity to meet and socialize with NewsChannel 11 Anchors Karin McCay, Abner Euresti, John Robison, and Pete Christy.
ENTER TO WIN!!
South Plains John Deere Dealers have joined the tour and will be in each town with a sample of their inventory of tractors. This year, members of each community will have the chance to enter and win a John Deere Gator 825i XUV. During the 10 p.m. broadcast at each town, we will draw one name from that community to become a semifinalist. On day five, we will take all five semifinalists and draw one name and that person will win the John Deere Gator.
Another facet of this year’s event is Anderson Brothers Finders Keepers. This contest is designed to showcase each community while rewarding the smart and savvy individuals of the town. In each community beginning at noon, a piece of jewelry will be hidden in a public place of significance. Every hour beginning at noon a clue will be revealed on KCBD’s Mobile App as to where this piece of jewelry is located. The first person, who locates the prize, wins.
