ABERNATHY, TX (KCBD) -

The Abernathy Antelopes went 7-4 last year and coach Darrell Daily says that didn't sit well with his players.

"The kids are growing up. We had some inexperience last year, thank now they're gonna be seniors. We're excited. They didn't like that 7-4. Hopefully that challenged them enough and they've got bigger and stronger. We will see how that
goes."

In Class 2A Division I with Floydada, Hale Center, New Deal, Olton and Sundown, Abernathy wants to reside at the top.

"We want to be in that top 1. That's always our goal to be the district champion. You got New Deal. They're gonna be awful tough. Then you got Floydada who has more guys back than anyone does.  Hale Center has a lot back. Olton has a new
coach. Then you bring in Sundown."

Coach Daily is enter his 8th season in Abernathy and he's done great things with this pigskin program.

"We have great kids. We have support. We have great facilities. I'm excited to go on for 8 years. It's great to be an Abernathy Antelope."
