IDALOU, TX (KCBD) -

The Idalou Wildcats are coming off a super season under head coach Jeff Lofton.

"It was a blessing. 13-1 tied the most wins in school history. I couldn't have asked anymore from that group of kids. They gave it all and we were maybe 1 or 2 minutes from going to State."

Hit hard by graduation, Idalou will need players to step up this season.

"Losing 25 seniors off 31 is a challenge, but they will step up. We'll have a fast learning curve. The young kids have to be ready to strap it up. The Idalou Wildcats are always ready to strap it up."

Listen to their non-district schedule: Shallowater, Seminole. Littlefield, Post, Muleshoe and Denver City. Wow that's a big test every week.

"We're always playing up. It's tough at first. As these guys start to feel where they need to fit in as an Idalou Wildcat, they'll start rolling."

Idalou was sent South for district in with Colorado City, Coahoma, Stanton and Roosevelt.
