IDALOU, TX (KCBD) -
Idalou's Bradley Adkins is heading to Rio Olympics in early August to represent the United States in high jump.
Many remember his high jump on the basketball court in 2011 against Seminole as he soared high for the alley-oop, bringing the rim crashing down.
"It's a funny story. My coach was mad at me. He just ripped me for something. He calls the alley-oop and he says I want you to rip the rim off. Obviously just joking. I tried to throw it down and ended up missing the dunk."
He then saw glass and realized he did bring the rim down. Something no one in Idalou will forget.
"There's still marks in the court from where the screws from the back of the rim had hit into the floor. So I left my mark."
Adkins hopes to leave his mark in Rio as the Red Raider competes against the best in the World in the high jump at the 2016 Summer Olympics.
