LUBBOCK COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

A Lubbock grandmother and her 6-year-old grandchild have died after a Chevy pickup struck them while they were walking on a County Road Thursday night.

43-year-old Luz Montoya and 6-year-old Adrian have died. 9-year-old Zane remains in critical condition as of Sunday night.

Montoya and Adrian were on life support, and the family was told both of them were brain dead. The family made the difficult decision to take them off life support so that both could be organ donors.

DPS says it happened on CR 6520 just West of FM 179 around 9:30 p.m. Thursday night.

The driver of the pickup was not injured.

The owners of ARM Concrete will be holding a fundraiser for the family at a later date that will be announced. All donations will go to help the family.

The South Plains Flag Football League will be holding a charity tournament for the family on Sunday, July 31. The tournament will be 10-team single elimination with a $50 entry fee. Trophy for first place and the family will be out there to accept any donations.
