LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Two motorcycles were involved in a crash Tuesday morning on U.S. 62/82 in Idalou and the eastbound lanes are shut down.

The crash happened just before 11 a.m. as the motorcycles were traveling eastbound.

According to officials with the Department of Public Safety, the first motorcycle was slowing to turn into a gas station when the second motorcycle ran into the back of the first, throwing both drivers off their motorcycles.

The rider on the second motorcycle has been identified as 52-year-old Donald Leroy Breon of Maryland. He was pronounced dead at University Medical Center. DPS troopers say he was not wearing a helmet.

The first motorcyclist was not injured in the crash.

Officials say they were both part of a cross country group traveling back to Maryland.
