LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Lubbock Police are searching for a man who is accused of punching and stabbing a store clerk for refusing to let him take gin, orange juice and ice without paying at the Kwik O Foods at 1528 East Broadway Street in Lubbock on July 22.

According to the police report, the suspect arrived at the convenience store around 7 p.m. and grabbed the items. He told the clerk he didn't have any money and a person next door was going to pay for the items. The suspect tried to get the employee to just let him take the items, but the employee refused and the suspect returned them.

The suspect then walked out of the store.

The employee then got on the phone and walked outside of the store. The suspect approached the employee and yelled "Did you call the cops on me?" according to the report.

The police report says an officer checked the surveillance video and saw the suspect swing four times at the employee, landing one punch on his forehead. Then the officer reported seeing the suspect pull out what appeared to be a knife from his pocket and stab the employee in the back. The suspect then ran to his vehicle and drove away from the scene.

The victim was treated and taken to the hospital for his injuries.

The suspect has not been located at this time. The suspect is described as a black man, in his 40's, who is around 5'11" and weighs around 180 pounds.

If anyone has information about this crime, they are urged to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000.

The case is still under investigation.
