LITTLEFIELD, TX (KCBD) -

Littlefield Mayor Eric Turpen says the city of Littlefield will install tornado sirens before next storm season.

Mayor Turpen tells us the city applied for a USDA grant, which they received this month.

He says the grant will match the cost of the sirens by 45 percent.

Mayor Turpen says they will install five tornado sirens throughout the city.

He says as of now they use the CodeRED emergency notification system, and they will continue to use that once the sirens are installed.

The mayor says they hope to install the sirens by March of next year.
