Police release image of suspect vehicle after Slaton police officer dragged 900 yards

SLATON, TX (KCBD) -

A Slaton police officer was dragged 900 yards and thrown off a vehicle on July 15, 2016. Now officials have released an image of the vehicle involved.

Officer Paul Rucker was directing traffic in the intersection of Texas Ave. and Railroad Ave. for a car show in Slaton around 8 p.m. when police say a driver refused to cooperate and got into a physical confrontation with the officer.

Slaton police say Rucker was dragged approximately 900 yards and thrown off the vehicle, landing in a bar ditch in the 100 block of Railroad Avenue.

Officer Rucker was taken to a hospital in serious condition. He sustained road rash to his head and limbs and a major contusion to his head.

He was released from the hospital a few hours later.

A person of interest has been questioned but no charges have been filed.
