Texas Historical Commission honors Lubbock County Historical Commission with award

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Texas Historical Commission has awarded the Lubbock County Historical Commission with a Distinguished Service Award for 2015. The award goes to county historical commissions that exemplify exceptional service and dedication for the state of Texas.

The award will be presented during the County Commissioners Court on Aug. 8, 2016 at 10 a.m.

Texas CHCs provided more than 480,000 volunteer hours in 2015. The members of the Lubbock CHC contributed 1,325 hours to that total.

During 2015, the Lubbock CHC initiated a service project at the Lubbock County Record Center appraising and inventorying historical records, and also installed and dedicated State of Texas historical markers at the Arnett House on the Lubbock Christian University campus and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Posey.
