LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech football has announced it is participating in the 2016 Carry the Fallen Ruck March to be held Aug. 27 at Spirit Ranch.

The event will take place at 8 a.m. and will benefit the Active Heroes organization which aids active duty military members, veterans, and their families with coping skills to prevent suicide.

The Red Raiders' leader is encouraging fans to sign up for the march.
