POST, TX (KCBD) -

A water tank near Post, TX, storing water for the city of Lubbock, was overflowing Saturday afternoon.

The tank is located on FM 651, north of Post.

According to Post officials, they received a call at 4:25 p.m. They are not sure how long the water had been spilling over the edge. Post officials called Water District officials in Lubbock about the issue.

Lubbock Water Utilities officials say a pump turned backwards which caused the overflow, but the pump is now shut down.

Post officials are saying the spilled water was causing a road hazard, because vehicles were hydroplaning.

There is no word on how much water was lost.

A KCBD NewsChannel 11 crew is on the scene. We will bring you more details as they become available.
