The Wellman-Union Wildcats enter their second year under Tommy Tritz.
"We ended up the year 4-5, and we finished out the year on a positive note," says Tritz. "In the sense that winning 4-games when previously only winning one game combined is definitely a move and a step up for Wellman-Union. We are excited in the sense that we have a lot of young kids coming up, because we are having to rebuild because we lost nine seniors off of the previous team. But, we are gaining eight 8th graders that will be freshman. So we have a lot of energy coming up from all of the younger kids. That is definitely something to look forward to for us,"
Now in District 6-1A Division 2, Wellman-Union plays some teams in close proximity.
"With a new district this year, with us actually moving to Region 2 we will see Loop, Sands, Grady, and Dawson. We are excited in the sense that those are teams that we haven’t gotten to play in the past two or three years. Loop only being eight miles away, playing them now in district makes them a more meaningful game for us," says Tritz.
