A house fire in New Deal kept fire departments from three towns busy for much of Monday afternoon.
Fire fighters first responded to the home in the 3800 Block of County Road 6000 just before 11 o'clock Monday morning. The fire flared up a total of three times before firefighters extinguished it completely.
"Due to the heat and kinda limited personnel, and difficulty getting water into the fire scene; it just kept on spreading up in the roof area until it got down back into the main living area," said New Deal Fire Chief, Randy Teeter.
New Deal Fire Department, Shallowater and Idalou Fire Departments were both called in to assist. Several firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation. Fortunately, no one was at home when the fire started. The house is considered a total loss.
