LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Monterey Girls Basketball Coach Jill Schneider missed out on going to the Summer games when the 1980 USA Women's Basketball team boycotted the games. However she will be going to the Summer Olympics in Rio to work the games.

"I'm working for the International Basketball Association on the floor. As near as I can gather I'll be watching all the women's basketball games and doing reports on those games."

Schneider has been working with some of the younger USA women's basketball teams over the past few years. She thinks the USA Women are the best team in the World, but she knows the best team doesn't always win. She is super excited for the Olympics to start and the whole world to start watching.

"I just think it's an environment where Nations can come together regardless of political environment and compete and have fun competing and be on the world stage. I'm excited to be there and see Opening Ceremonies and see what it's really like."
