The case against a former Lubbock mayoral candidate, accused of theft, has been dropped.
You may recall, 56-year-old Roger Settler was arrested in 2004 outside a vacant house in North Overton. He was accompanied by 40-year-old Bruce Gentry. The two men were found removing items from the house, which was scheduled for demolition.
However, McDougal Realtors owned the property and disputed that claim. The district attorney's office decided to dismiss the charges, stating that the interest of justice could not be served through further proceedings in this matter.
