LYNN COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

As we first reported in July, two children and their father were found dead in a vehicle near a roadside park in Lynn County, just outside of Tahoka.

Last month, sources told KCBD that this case could possibly be a murder-suicide involving the children's father, but that information has not been confirmed by authorities.

Sergeant John Gonzalez with the Texas Department of Public Safety sent out the following release Thursday at 12:16 p.m.:

The Texas Rangers are still investigating the deaths of a father and two children discovered in Lynn County on July 14, 2016.

The father Jeremy Conteras, 37, son Garett Contreras, 6, and daughter Avery Contreras, 23 months, all of Lubbock, were discovered in a vehicle on County Road Q, just west of US 87 near the road side park.

We were told by the Lubbock attorney representing the children's mother, that the father was supposed to drop the children off with their mother, but did not show up.

According to a source, the bodies of the father and the children were found in a vehicle at a Lynn County roadside park.

The Texas Rangers are assisting the Lynn County Sheriff's office in this investigation.

Officials with South Plains Forensic Pathology in Lubbock said all three autopsies have been completed, and the information has been turned over to officials with Lynn County.

We will be following the investigation closely and bring you the very latest as we continue to learn more.
