Purple Heart recognition ceremony and flag dedication held at Memorial Circle

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A ceremony was held for Lubbock and surrounding area Purple Heart recipients, a national scholarship winner and to dedicate a new Purple Heart flag at Memorial Circle at Texas Tech University.

The ceremony was held Friday morning.

Texas Tech University's Military and Veterans Programs and Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 0900 of Lubbock honored nine campus and 53 local area Purple Heart recipients and one national scholarship winner, Kailey Snead, a sophomore zoology student from Lubbock.

Snead is the granddaughter of a two-time Purple Heart recipient, George R. Snead of El Paso who is a retired chief warrant officer.
