LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Education rocks. That's the motto for today's 4th Annual David Montalvo Scholarship Jam, an event that pits good music while raising money for education.

The event will take place from 4 p.m.-midnight today and will feature a variety of great local bands, food, and raffle prizes.

Friends and family of the late David Montalvo are inviting the community to today's jam, which will be held at the South Plains Shrine Club, 7412 83rd St.

Gates open at 4 p.m and entertainment starts at 5 p.m. There is a $5 cover charge.

For 4 years now, friends and family have gathered to honor the memory of Montalvo- who lost his battle to cancer. Montalvo worked for Community in Schools at Lubbock High which benefits at risk kids throughout the South Pains.

All money raised will benefit students throughout the South Plains community through the Community in Schools program.

Last year the event brought in about 400 people in attendance and was able to award scholarships to two local high school recipients!

If you have any questions you can contact the even coordinator, Alma Cunningtubby, at 806-928-9374.
