When the Red Raiders released their 105 man football roster Monday, among the names was a local quarterback whose hard work, desire and dedication paid off with a spot on the team.
Lubbock Roosevelt's Colt Garrett, who came to Texas Tech as a preferred walk-on made the team.
Garrett led the Eagles to many big wins in his high school career and now he is #18 on the Red Raiders.
As a freshman he is not allowed to speak to the media per school policy, but Red Raider QB Patrick Mahomes was more than happy to talk about Colt.
"He came in. He has a really good arm. It was something you can tell he has the arm talent. He just has to work on his technique and footwork and stuff like that. He's really trying to soak up as much knowledge as he can. He'll go out there with me and Nic Shimonek and just sit there and watch and just snap the ball to us. He's someone that's trying to get reps. He's trying to get as much work as he can get in and it's something you're excited to see."
Garrett is 6-1 and weighs 180 pounds and he's soaking up all he can as a Red Raider.
