Buddy Holly lake stocked with 1,000 pounds of catfish for Vamos a Pescar

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

More than 1,000 pounds of catfish were dropped off at Buddy Holly Lake to get ready for the 8th Annual Vamos a Pescar event.

Los Hermanos Familia brought the fish to the Hub City from a fish hatchery in Oklahoma.

This free fishing event begins at 6 a.m. and ends at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13 at Buddy Holly lake located at Cesar Chavez Drive and North University. 

The whole family is invited to join in on the fun.

All children up to 17-years-old must be accompanied by an adult. 

No fishing license is needed. 

This year, they will offer archery, tackle box building, backyard bass games and more. 

Bring a fishing pole, chair, sunscreen, bug spray, water, your special bait, snacks and anything else you may need for a comfortable day at the park. 

While this event is free, they ask you pre-register by clicking here. 

On-site registration will be held the day of the event beginning at 6 a.m.
