LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The City of Lubbock will soon get two new snow plows.

This comes after the city council approved the measure on Thursday night.

The amount of equipment available to fight snow and ice in the city limits was a hot topic after the massive snow storm we experienced this past winter.

Each plow will cost $169,600.

The purchase will go through the city's Vehicle Debt Financing program and will replace older trucks in the city's fleet.

The council also decided to indefinitely postpone the possibility of bringing a minor league baseball team to the Hub City.

Former Lubbock city councilman and attorney David Nelson represented the group called Southpaw, which is interested in bringing the league to Lubbock.

Nelson proposed a stadium which would cost $39 million to build.

If the proposal were to be approved by voters as it is stands now, the stadium would be paid for with proceeds from a two cent increase in the city's hotel/motel tax.
