LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Just think about it. In exactly three weeks, the Texas Tech Red Raiders will open up the 2016 football season when they host the Lumberjacks from Stephen F. Austin.

Coming into the season everyone has high hopes for the Red Raider offense.

And they should, with Patrick Mahomes back after a spectacular sophomore campaign.

The numbers give you a reason to be excited.

Get this, last year Texas Tech offense was ranked 2nd nationally in passing yards per-game.

As well as, points scored per-game.

And according to the team, they have no plans of slowing down.

“I think with Patrick coming back he will be a much improved player because he had a great off season,” says head coach Kliff Kingsbury.

“Coach Kingsbury has always stressed to us, score as many points as you can to win," says wide receiver Dylan Cantell."Score more points than the other team, so I think we will definitely see some high scores out there this year,”
