Gil Roberts placed ninth in the 400M Olympic semifinals on Saturday, just missing the cut for the finals.

Roberts started off strong, staying near the front of the pack. He fell behind in the last 100 meters and finished fourth in the heat with a time of 44.65. That put him at ninth overall in the field.

It was actually Roberts best time of the season, but was 0,16 seconds outside the eighth and final qualifying spot.

Roberts still has a chance to run on the 4x400 meter relay team for the U.S. That race is at 7:10 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, and the final is set for 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20.

Red Raider Bradley Adkins will also take his shot at Olympic glory. Tonight at 6:30 p.m. Adkins will jump in Group B, along with 43 other high jumpers looking to get past the first cut.

Adkins will advance with a qualifying clearance of 2.31m/7-7, or be in the final group of the top 12 performers in the competition.
