As we continue to inch closer and closer to the season opener against Stephen F. Austin, everyone is watching the Red Raiders, wondering if the defense will step up.
The Red Raider defense lost a lot of big names from last year's squad.
Pete Robertson, Branden Jackson, and Micah Awe, just to name a few.
But second year defensive coordinator David Gibbs says losing that kind of experience might not be a bad thing.
"If you have 40 defensive players that can play, and you get 18 new ones, that is flipping over your defensive roster. It gives you the opportunity to get the guys in here that you want to have in here." Gibbs said.
"So are we a finished product? No, but are we heading into the right direction? I believe we are. So we will work our butts off this training camp, and see where we go."
