Police: Floydada man charged with murder of brother

FLOYDADA, TX (KCBD) -

According to officials with the Floydada Police Department, a Floydada man has been charged in the death of his brother.

On August 16, 2016 at about 5:45 pm, a Floydada Police Officer was on patrol and saw a fight between two men in the 200 Block of West Houston Street.

The officer saw the victim, 29-year-old Cristal Jesus Cruz, in a fight with his brother, 43-year-old Raul Cruz Jr.  

Cristal Cruz was breathing but unresponsive by the time the officer was able to turn around and approach the scene.  

Raul Cruz Jr. was then arrested for aggravated assault.  

Cristal Cruz was taken to University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas where he died from his injuries on August 17.  

The charge against Raul Cruz Jr. was upgraded to murder and he is being held in Garza County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
