LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A man was arrested for reportedly assaulting his family and threatening to kill them and himself.

Lubbock police responded to a report of a suicidal/homicidal subject in the 2200 block of Norwich Avenue just before 8:45 p.m. Thursday.

When police arrived they found the suspect's wife and two sons, ages 16 and five, outside their home. The woman told police that her husband assaulted her and the children. She also told police that her husband had taken drugs and had access to a gun.

The woman said her husband threatened to kill his family and then himself.

The wife gave police a cell phone number for her husband who was still inside the home.

Police called the man and and eventually convinced him to come out of the home and turn himself in.

Officers arrested 43-year-old Tom Boyd without incident.
