Texas Tech volleyball hosts red & black scrimmage

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Red Raiders volleyball team will host its 2016 Red & Black Scrimmage at 6 p.m. tonight at the United Supermarkets Arena practice gym.

It will serve as the final preparation before the season begins next week. 

All fans will receive complimentary admission to the scrimmage. They will be asked to use the west ground-level doors by the ticket office to enter the arena as they have in the past. 

"We have a lot of competition going on and I'd like to see that separate itself a little bit," said head coach Tony Graystone. "We're just trying to generate these game-environment moments the best we can so that when we get it all together and do it for real we can be ready."

Tech will being the 2016 season away from home with two weeks against non-conference opponents. The Red Raiders will play at the Portland State Tournament Aug. 26-27. There they will battle Colorado at 8:30 p.m. on Friday, followed by Long Beach State at 1:30 on Saturday. They finish by playing Portland State at 9:30 p.m. Saturday night.
