Man arrested after evading police in West Lubbock

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A man is in custody after fleeing police Saturday night in West Lubbock

He has been charged with evading arrest and unlawfully carrying a weapon.

Police tell KCBD that officers were making a routine subject check on two individuals in a vehicle outside a residence in the 4900 block of 6th St., after reports that one person was possible waving a firearm in the air.

As officers approached the vehicle they noticed the driver did indeed have a firearm. The passenger stepped out of the car and the driver threw the firearm out of the vehicle.

The suspect then drove off, fleeing the scene.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and suspect a short time later in the 2200 block of Urbana Place. 

The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
