Victim recovering from life-threatening injuries after fight at Buffalo Wild Wings

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A man has been charged with aggravated assault after a fight outside a Lubbock Buffalo Wild Wings Saturday night.

The fight between two men happened just before 10:30 p.m. Saturday at the Buffalo Wild Wings at 8212 University Ave.

Police say the victim, 22-year-old Oscar Cerna, had life-threatening injuries and was transported to Covenant Medical Center in critical condition, but is now listed in good condition.

The man arrested has been identified as 24-year-old Humberto Salas.

According to the police report, Cerna is Salas' brother-in-law. Salas told police he was helping Cerna leave Buffalo Wild Wings because Cerna was intoxicated. When they got outside, Salas said Cerna swung at him, trying to hit him. He told police he pushed Cerna away from him and he stumbled and fell backwards, hitting his head on the ground. Cerna was unconscious when police arrived.

Salas told police he did not intend to hurt Cerna, only push him away. Salas has been charged with aggravated assault.

Police continue to investigate the incident.
