A statue to honor fallen astronaut and Coronado graduate Willie McCool will be unveiled next Thursday.
On Friday NewsChannel 11 was able to get a sneak peak at the memorial statue. Artists are still putting the finishing touches on the sculpture at the House of Bronze.
Next Saturday, the 15 foot statue will be unveiled at Huneke Park off 82nd and Nashville, where McCool's parents will attend a special dedication ceremony.
McCool was one of the seven astronauts killed when Columbia disintegrated upon re-entry in 2003. NASA has not launched a shuttle since the tragedy and Friday postponed shuttle Discovery's May launch to July 13th.
