Noon Notebook 8/29: Tickets available for Lubbock Symphony's Opening Night Gala

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The Lubbock Symphony Orchestra's 70th Anniversary Season will kick off its Opening Night Gala with a performance by violin virtuoso Joshua Bell.

This celebratory concert will feature Verdi’s Overture to La Forza del Destino and Prelude to Act I of La Traviata.  Additionally, the performance will include selections from Tchaikovsky’s Swan Lake Suite, as well as his Capriccio Italien and renowned Violin Concerto with Mr. Bell. This historic concert commemorates the devotion and dedication of the LSO in providing world-class music to our region.  

Bell performs on the 1713 Huberman Stradivarius violin and uses a late 18th century French bow by Francois Tourte.

The gala will take place on September 12th at the Civic Center Theatre. 

Tickets begin at $50.

The gala dinner will begin at 6 p.m. and the concert will begin at 7:30 p.m.
