Noon Notebook 8/30: Yoakum County Watermelon Round-Up kicks off on Saturday

YOAKUM COUNTY, TX (KCBD) -

It's all you can eat watermelon for free at the 21st annual Yoakum County Watermelon Round-Up in Plains.

As traditional would have it, KCBD NewsChannel 11's First Alert Meteorologist John Robison will be the Master of Ceremonies. 

The round-up kicks off at 9 a.m. on Saturday, September 3 and lasts until 5 p.m.

There will be more than 80 vendors, live entertainment, and plenty of fun activities for the whole family.

A 5K/10K  run begins at 7:45 a.m.

You can register for the runs starting at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday.

Registration is already open for the car show.

If you register before the round-up, it will cost you $25. 

Registration the day of is $30 and begins at 9 a.m.

Car show judging begins at 10 a.m.

The second annual Little Miss and Mr. Watermelon Round-Up Pageant runs from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Registration for the pageant ends at 5 p.m. on Friday and costs $30 a person or $20 each for siblings.
