Hurricane Newton bringing rain to the South Plains

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Showers and a few storms returned to the South Plains on Tuesday.

Moisture from Hurricane Newton is spilling into the region and bringing rain. More rain is likely across the region from Tuesday through Saturday.

Some of the most active storms will be overnight into early Wednesday and again late Friday into Saturday. Some storms will produce heavy rain and local flooding. Rain chances dip some Thursday, then increase late Friday into early Saturday.

Generally temps will be in the mid to upper 80s; however, it your area receives heavy rain and clouds most of the day it will be cooler with possible highs in upper 70s or low 80s. The western South Plains and New Mexico have the greatest potential for heavy rain and much cooler temps this coming week.
