Lubbock Fire Chief Named Texas Chief Of The Year - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

The Lubbock Fire Department is set to re-open fire station 13 next Saturday.

It's part of the department's five year public safety improvement plan. It's just one reason, the Texas Fire Chief's Association has named Lubbock Fire Chief Steve Hailey - "Chief Of The Year."

Hailey calls the honor a team effort from his firefighters, his family and the city for its support. "I don't do anything by myself in this position, it's a team effort for what we accomplish." Hailey said.

Hailey was chosen out of more than 2,000 chiefs across the state.
