SPEC, CoBank donates $10,000 to the South Plains Food Bank

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

The South Plains Food Bank received a $10,000 donation from the South Plains Electric Cooperative and CoBank members.

The money donated will help with the food bank's mobile pantry which serves more than 10 surrounding communities.

"We as a cooperative, working under the cooperative principals are engaged in our community, we give back to our communities. And it's all about improving the lives of our members, quality of lives of our members out in those areas," said Lynn Simmons, Director of Communications at South Plains Electric Cooperative.

Simmons says each food pantry in those communities will receive around $1,000 dollars to use at the South Plains Food Bank.

A cold front will move through our area late tonight, shifting winds out of the north. Monday morning will be cool and breezy.
