LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Texas Tech University's String Project is hosting an open house for Lubbock fourth-graders, interested in learning to play a string instrument, and their parents.

The program provides opportunities for students to take music lessons at a reduced cost.

The open house runs from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. tonight, in the band hall at the Tech School of Music, at 18th and Boston.

Interested families also can register for the String Project online by Sept. 16. Tuition is $90 a semester ($50 for students eligible for free or reduced lunch) and includes class instruction two days a week and one private lesson.
