LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Most of the South Plains viewing area will be under a "SLIGHT" risk for severe thunderstorms Saturday and Saturday night.

A weak cold front lingers across the area today. This will set the stage for scattered showers and thunderstorms today and tonight.

Showers and thunderstorms will be possible across the area today.

The main severe weather hazard will be hail and high wind gusts up to 60 mph or higher.

Lightning, heavy rainfall and localized flooding will also be possible near any storms that develop Saturday and Saturday evening.

Storms could affect the Texas Tech/Louisiana Tech football game at Jones AT&T Stadium later this evening.

Keep an eye to the skies and remain weather alert today.
